At Magpie Thrift, you already know us...

The employees of the previous thrift store that occupied the Capitol Hill location carry on a decades-long tradition of affordable thrifting in Seattle that supports an amazing cause. The Executive Director, who ran the former store, has kept all the wonderful parts of what we already had: our staff, inventory, and community partners.

Discounts

Our daily discounts, (or Magpie Markdowns?), are the same as before. We rotate our discounts weekly until items are 50 cents before moving on to another thrift store or charities in hopes that they will stay out of landfills.

We are now a self funded independent thrift store. Until Everly is fully established and a force in the community, we will be a for profit store. The owner founded Everly and is 100% committed to keeping the store inclusive, raising money for funding programs, and giving back to the community they've lived in since the early 90's.

NEW NAME, SAME GREAT VIBE

Universal floor plan

One of the things that makes Magpie so special is our universal floor plan. Rather than having gendered racks, we organize our clothing by cut and function. While this may be unfamiliar to new shoppers, it has been a part of Magpie's origins and culture for decades, reflecting our place in Seattle's queer community.

Shopping can be a stressful experience for those who are gender nonconforming, but at Magpie we want to provide a supportive environment for everyone. We hope that through this small change, we can inspire people to live authentically, spread compassion, and shop thoughtfully.

What makes Magpie Thrift different

In line with our mission to keep as much as possible out of the landfill and in our communities, we have created two special sections for items that need a little love or imagination to give them another life. Through our “As Is” program, we hope to encourage people to be more mindful of their consumption habits, and offer them an opportunity to think outside of the box while extending the life of existing, quality goods.
